Copper Smudge Bowls
![]()
Copper is the conduit for the feminine healing Spirit. Mother Nature made the copper , then some humans created into a beautiful metal. Then I transformed the copper into smudge bowls. A smudge bowl is where you place your herbs like sage, sweetgrass etc. for cleansing and to call upon Creator.
My bowls are aniled then pounded out into shape. Next comes the sanding and polishing. Prayers are said the whole time. It takes a long time and a lot of effort to make these bowls. They average 7 pounds and are about 11" in diameter , 32" in circumference. I don't coat the copper for everything is meant to go back to Mother Earth where we got it from, so the bowl will dull with time then develop a beautiful green patina. You do have the option of coating it , but just polishing it or leaving it alone is best...this is two fold - one is that you learn to appreciate the process that elements and time work their way to produce a new type of beauty. Two is that you apply that to yourself and learn to appreciate and love you own aging process...learn to love your envelope and what's inside.

The Mohawk Clan Mothers have one of my bowls as well as a Hawaiian Kahuna, a Mexican Indigenous woman, a woman in Santa Fe New Mexico, and a 3 year old girl. This is the start of what I hope to be a collection of people who may all come together one day in spirit as well as flesh.
You can contact me by email at wendy at motherspirit.ca ...the price is negotiable but if you add my time up with a reasonable hourly wage and the price of copper, wear and tear on tools etc. , each bowl costs me a lot.
